"Aunt Bee has never behaved as badly as she did in this episode (except for the Mr. Frisbee episode). She treated Andy terribly and was so rude to him. He couldn't eat breakfast at his own table! Aunt Bee was always quite rude when she couldn't get her own way. " - C. Sheppard from Atlanta, GA

"My favorite part of this episode was Otis singing "BARNEY'S IN JA-IL!! BARNEY'S IN JA-IL!!" I just passed my Series 6, and they tell me I'm going to be a champion of the financial services industry. You should be congratulating me." - Felippe from

"The hats on the ladies at the club meeting are delightful and fun! Was Helen the only teacher of Opie? IN this episode Ope is about 12 or 13 and still has Old Lady Crump for a teacher....Mrs. Crump was his teacher when he was like in 2nd grade (The History Lesson) and now Opie still has her for a teacher...and a History teacher one at that..." - from

"It's interesting to constrast this with the (much later) political episode of Emmett Clark vs. Sam Jones. This one is WAY BETTER!! " - Rusty from North Carolina

"I think this is another good episode in which Jack Dodson does a good job as Howard Sprauge. The presentation he gives to the city council on fixing the Mayberry sewar/water system is very well written. The writers did a good job with this episode. " - Eddie from Oklahoma City
