"Keika and Gizmo"
Raechelle (a fellow Canadian gal!) is the proud owner of several beautiful birds.. and here are her budgies:

"Keika is our little ice princess. She came to live with us first, and still seems to think that it is her role to rule the house. I picked her out on the nostalgia of a similar-looking VERY TAME budgie I had as a child. She is nothing like him, but I adore her to pieces despite her fiestiness. She doesn't like to be held, but will graciously perch on our fingers if we beg and plead with her. She's the healthy one, demolishing all fruits, vegies, and grains we offer her. She will keep Gizmo away from any treats until SHE'S had her fill first!!! She chews her cuttlebone down to nothing and shows very clear nesting instincts. Perhaps she will get a chance to be a mommy once she reaches a year old in July 2000... Stay tuned!"

"Gizmo came to us as a handfed baby just two months after we got Keika. He is quite the little talker. He has now perfected the sounds of my parrotlet as well, so the house is always filled with some kind of chatter! He was becoming very tame, sitting on a shoulder for as long as we would allow him and begging for nose rubs in his head feathers. Unfortunately he experienced four broken blood feathers within five weeks, which seems to have traumatized him. We are working very hard to win back his trust, and are slowly making progress with him. He loves his toys and will say "pretty bird" and "hello Gizmo" to his bell toy for hours! One thing I learned was that one budgie plus another budgie definitley equal more than the sum of their feathers. They are so crazy and have such amusing antics together, it has definitely been worth the loss of the personal relationship we've had with each of them. Now that we've added a fiesty little parrotlet into the equation, the feathered fun is never ending at our house!!!!"
